Measure chats and posts with four numbers
Likes aren't sales — track inquiries, close rate, order value and repeat buying to know what to fix
A post with lots of likes may not sell a thing. The numbers that really help decisions are the ones close to money.
Four numbers
- Inquiries per week — from which post or channel
- Close rate = buyers ÷ people who asked
- Average order value = sales ÷ number of orders
- Repeat rate — customers who buy again within 30–90 days
Sales ≈ inquiries × close rate × order value — find the weakest number and fix that first
Which is low, what to fix
- Few inquiries → improve content and channels; give people a clear reason to ask now
- Many inquiries, few sales → improve replies, pricing, trust and response speed
- Low order value → bundles, complementary items, free shipping above a threshold
- Little repeat buying → follow up after sale, segment customers, send offers that fit each group
Keep records simple
- One sheet, one row per week, four columns
- Tag chats with where they came from (e.g. "promo post", "past customer") to learn which channels pay off
Change one thing at a time and watch for 1–2 weeks — change several at once and you won't know what worked
Key points
- Sales ≈ inquiries × close rate × order value
- Fix the weakest number first
- Tag where inquiries come from and change one thing at a time
