← Path: Making your own digital products
In depth · 7 min read
Launch your first digital product small, in 14 days
Open to a small group first, collect questions and real results, then grow — less risk of building what nobody buys
A first launch doesn't have to be big. The goal is to get a first group of real users and learn what to fix before putting full effort into promotion.
Days 1–4: prepare just enough
- A first version that solves one problem completely — it doesn't need every feature
- A one-page quick-start guide and an example result
- Test the buy → delivery path yourself once, on a computer and a phone
Days 5–7: tell before you sell
- Share 2–3 free pieces of knowledge about the problem
- Say openly that a product is coming and let interested people leave their name
Days 8–10: open to the first group
- Open to those who signed up first, with a launch price that has a reason and a real end date
- Message every buyer after 2–3 days of use: where did they get stuck, what result did they get
Days 11–14: adjust, then grow
- Fix the points people ask about repeatedly and update the guide
- Ask permission to use real feedback as reviews
- Sum up the numbers — visitors, buyers, questions, time spent on support — then decide the next round
Before selling for real, the basics must be ready: a proper payment channel, a refund policy and care for customer data
Key points
- Version one solves one problem fully, with a one-page guide
- Tell people and let them sign up before launch
- Open to a small group, collect questions and real reviews, then grow
