← Path: Money and tax basics for small businesses

Basics · 5 min read

Keep tax papers all year so filing isn't a rush

One folder, five categories, filed the moment you get a document — at tax time you just add up

At tax-filing time (early the following year) many people dig through chats and emails for a whole year of documents — slow, and deductions get missed.

General information. Filing deadlines and allowances can change every year — check with the Thai Revenue Department or an accountant before filing

One folder, five categories

  1. Income — invoices and receipts you issued, monthly platform statements
  2. Tax withheld — withholding-tax certificates (50 Tawi) from clients, used as credit when you file
  3. Expenses — if you deduct actual expenses you need evidence such as tax invoices and receipts
  4. Allowances — insurance, funds, donations and other documents valid for that year
  5. Other — contracts, accepted quotations, transfer evidence

File immediately, name files so you can find them

  • Whenever you get a document, photograph/save it into the folder that day
  • Name it year-month-day_who_what_amount, e.g. 2026-03-15_CompanyA_50Tawi_1500
  • At each month end, add up income and tax withheld in one sheet

Before filing

  • Total the year's income from the sheet and check you have a 50 Tawi certificate from every payer
  • Chase payers who haven't sent their certificates early in the year, not on the last day

Key points

  • One folder, five categories, filed the day you get it
  • Name files with date, issuer, type and amount
  • Total monthly and chase 50 Tawi certificates early
